Jasper-Vogel is working on what she calls, "The Madona Project". Her Madonna figures are
encased in antiqued wall shrines, their faces and hands are sculpted and cast and the figure is costumed and embellished
with antique fabrics, beads and found objects that have been recycled into antique jewels. Each one represents a different
aspect of the madonna.
"For the past 15 years I have worked with images of the Sacred Feminine or mother Goddess. In the
late 90's, I showed a body of work at the Lumina Gallery in Taos. At that time, my passion was creating large ceramic
figures depicting ancient or atavistic goddess images which symbolically reflected contemporary concerns.
Now that I have moved to Taos, I find myself facinated with images of the Madonna:
THE IMBODIMENT OF THE SACRED FEMININE". . . Lynda M. Jasper-Vogel |
